Technical Estimator\n\nPermanent Position\nCompetitive Salary – Dependent on Experience\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Estimator to join our growing engineering team.\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong engineering knowledge and estimating experience to play a key role in supporting sales, production, and purchasing functions. You will be responsible for interpreting customer drawings and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and identifying the most effective manufacturing routes for customer projects.\n\nThe successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and overseas suppliers to help deliver high-quality solutions and support business growth.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Interpret customer drawings and technical requirements at enquiry and order stage\n\n * Prepare accurate job estimates including Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routes\n\n * Assess opportunities for outsourcing or alternative supply solutions where appropriate\n\n * Support contract reviews for both standard and technical orders when required\n\n * Work closely with Sales Teams to provide technical and commercial support\n\n * Assist with sourcing enquiries and supplier communication, including overseas suppliers\n\n * Liaise with purchasing and production teams to ensure smooth project coordination\n\n * Support business growth and customer development opportunities\n\n * Maintain accurate records and general housekeeping duties\n\n * Demonstrate flexibility to complete tasks outside normal working hours when required\n\nAbout You\n\nWe are looking for someone who:\n\n * Has strong engineering and manufacturing knowledge\n\n * Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail\n\n * Can confidently interpret technical drawings and specifications\n\n * Has good communication and problem-solving skills\n\n * Is proactive and able to work independently\n\n * Enjoys working collaboratively with internal teams and suppliers\n\n * Is commercially aware and customer focused\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nEssential\n\nExperience in estimating within an engineering or manufacturing environment\n\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings\n\nGood understanding of manufacturing processes and materials\n\nStrong organisational and analytical skills\n\nExcellent attention to detail\n\nGood communication and IT skills\n\nDesirable\n\n * Experience sourcing components or working with overseas suppliers\n\n * Previous experience supporting technical sales teams\n\n * Knowledge of contract review processes\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n * Permanent full-time opportunity\n\n * Competitive salary dependent on experience\n\n * Opportunity to work within a supportive and growing business\n\n * Career development and progression opportunities\n\n * Company pension scheme through The People’s Pension\n\n * Employee contribution: 5%\n\n * Employer contribution: 3%\n\n * Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30\n\n * Friday: 08:00 – 15:30\n\n * 26 days holiday per annum\n\nIf you are a technically minded professional looking for your next challenge within engineering and manufacturing, we would love to hear from you
